Why we're here:
This blog is to highlight the unjust persecution of legitimate non-TV users at the hands of TV Licensing. These people do not require a licence and are entitled to live without the unnecessary stress and inconvenience caused by TV Licensing's correspondence and employees.

If you use equipment to receive live broadcast TV programmes, or to watch or download BBC on-demand programmes via the iPlayer, then the law requires you to have a TV licence and we encourage you to buy one.

BBC Staff Overpayments Reach Record High

What could be easier than working for the BBC, doing bugger all and getting paid for it?

Not working for the BBC, doing bugger all and still getting paid for it!

The amount the BBC has paid to employees in error rose to almost £1.5m last year. The Corporation's payroll made errors in favour of 583 individuals many of whom, having reached the end of their BBC employment, will not have to pay back a penny.

The BBC does say that any beneficiaries still in employment will have the amount overpaid deducted from their future salary. This has happened in the case of 305 of employees, with a total of around £934k having been recovered. Another 75 employees have a repayment plan in place, but there are currently no plans in place to recover overpayments, totalling around £200k, made to the remaining 204 employees.

John O'Connell, Chief Executive of campaign group The TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "A one-off mistake is understandable but this is a problem that has been going on for years.

"The licence fee is a heavy burden on hard-pressed families and it needs to be spent by BBC officials as if the money was their own."

The BBC, for its part, says that overpayments are rare and it expects to recoup 95% of all money paid out in error.

Of course the BBC is not very good with statistics.
